Absolutely Anything: Written Review

  • “With great power comes… a lot of weird stuff.”
  • “Biscuits… oh, lovely biscuits.”
  • “I can make things happen… anything I want!”
  • “Maybe the problem isn’t what you can do, but what you want to do.”

Have you heard this quote from any movie? Hm, yes it’s the “Absolutely Anything” movie.

The story

“Absolutely Anything” is a quirky British sci-fi comedy that revolves around Neil Clarke, an ordinary teacher who unexpectedly gains god-like powers. This ability is bestowed upon him by a group of extraterrestrial beings testing whether humanity deserves to be saved or destroyed. With the power to do anything, Neil’s attempts to improve his life lead to absurd and chaotic results. He tries to use his powers to impress his crush, Catherine, and even gives his dog, Dennis, the ability to speak. However, Neil quickly learns that unlimited power isn’t as straightforward as it seems, leading to humorous and unintended consequences.

The voice of Dennis the dog, hilariously brought to life by Robin Williams, adds another layer of humor and warmth to the story. The movie also includes the iconic voices of the Monty Python team as the aliens, which adds a nostalgic touch for fans of British comedy.
